BTHome Components

BTHome Components

Introduction

BTHome Components is a feature in Shelly that allows you to “bind” Shelly BLU (Bluetooth) devices with relays and dimmers without the need for scripting or an active WiFi and internet connection. It’s super easy—once you know how it works.

This is a great feature when you want to ensure that your wireless buttons will work even if the WiFi and internet connection go down. If you are a professional, you can also bind your devices before installing them at your customer’s location as a stand-alone solution.

Please note that you need a Gen3 device with firmware 1.3 or newer, or a Pro device with firmware 1.4 or newer to use BTHome Components.

Programming

For detailed information about how to make the binding, please watch the video tutorial.

The following steps needs to be done:

  1. Update your Shelly BLU device by using the Shelly BLE Debug app.
  2. Connect to the access point of your Shelly Gen3 or Pro device by searching for nearby Wi-Fi networks and connecting to the device. If you have already connected your device to your own Wi-Fi, you can skip this step.
  3. Open a browser and enter the IP address of your device. If you have connected to the access point of the device, you need to enter 192.168.33.1 in a browser. If you have already connected your device to your home Wi-Fi, you can find the IP address of your device in your Shelly app.
  4. Go to the “Components” tab and add a new BTHome component.
  5. Select the sensors that you would like to include by pressing the “+” icons.
  6. Now, you have made the connection. You just need to go to the “Action” tab and create an Action.

That’s it. You’re done!
