The Web Interface
All Shelly Wi-Fi devices include a built-in web interface, accessible through any modern browser.
The web interface allows you to:
- View real-time device status (e.g. power consumption, switch state)
- Configure settings such as Wi-Fi, MQTT, cloud access, schedules, and firmware updates
- Add and manage scripts (for Gen2/Gen3 devices)
- Control the device directly (toggle relays, adjust dimming, etc.)
This makes the web UI a powerful tool for setup, diagnostics, and manual control—without needing any external apps or services.
When and Why to use it
Why use it:
The web interface gives full control over your Shelly device without needing an app or cloud access. It’s great for configuration, testing, troubleshooting, or advanced scripting.
When to use it:
- When setting up the device for the first time
- When your phone app isn’t available or convenient
- When adjusting advanced settings (like MQTT, static IP, scripting)
- For quick manual control from a computer
- When diagnosing network or device issues
- When adding a device to Wifi without the use of Shelly app (Usefull when you dont’ want to use Shelly app, but want to add it to Home Assistant, Homey, etc.)
How
Access Point (AP) mode:
By default, the device starts in Access Point mode and broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network (e.g. Shelly1PM-xxxxxx).
You can connect directly to this network using your phone or computer, then open http://192.168.33.1 in a browser to access the web interface.
Local network mode:
Once the device is connected to your Wi-Fi, you can access it via its assigned IP address.
This IP can be found in the Shelly app or through your router’s device list.
Note:
Both access methods can be used simultaneously. For example, even if the device is online via Wi-Fi, its AP mode may still be active for direct access.
